Cycle Centres in Brisbane

Brisbane City Council is indertaking an initiative to encourage cycling in Brisbane City through the construction of three "cycle centres" in central locations. These centres offer secure bicycle parking as well as shower facilities, and have been leased out to contractors to manage and provide services.

Each offer different prices, but generally you can either subscribe for a monthly fee, or pay for a day's use of the facilities. It's convenient for commuters and recreational cyclists alike.

Royal Brisbane Womens Hospital

The new cycle centre at the Royal Brisbane Womens Hospital has opened and offers reasonably priced cycling facilities downstairs from a major bus station along the Northern Busway.

The cycle facility is not ideally located for CBD access, although the price is significantly lower than the King George Square centre.

King George Square

The King George Square cycle centre — Cycle2City — was opened in May 2008 and currently has plenty of spaces for new memberships.

You can get to the King George Square cycle centre from the Bicentennial Bikeway by getting off at the Turbot Street exit and following the cycleway until Roma Street.

Fortitude Valley

There is a new cycle centre being constructed in Fortitude Valley in the HQ building.
